Craig is the manager of Rotoplas, a plastics moulding business located in Unanderra, Illawarra. Craig already knew what he wanted from a IP CCTV system before he contacted us. Two large bays divide the production facility – each with a large roller door. Natural light evenly illuminates the bays of a day (which is ideal for CCTV systems). Materials and production equipment run the perimeter of each bay, while the product in varying stages of manufacture lay in the middle. The cameras, located on each side of each roller door look deep into the bay. Wide angle 4MP IP CCTV turrets take in the whole space. The positioning allows for crossover of images to ensure nothing is missed, this also aided in driving down installation costs. The 4MP security cameras provide high resolution to show fine details. The system can quickly and easily identify stock levels and order progression – this then fulfilled the production requirement.

An IP CCTV camera installed on the outside of the Illawarra property overlooks the front fence and gate. This camera records movements of vehicles and pedestrians. This is valuable information in the event of a break-in. The second camera views the yard and side fence. Deliveries and pick-ups are captured during the day. Of a night a vulnerable perimeter fence is guarded. The two external cameras are backed up with flood lighting of a night to provide better image capture results. This then fulfilled the second requirement of guarding the property of a night.

Continuously recorded footage is stored on a dedicated Hikvision 8-channel NVR recorder. These recorders are simple to use, purpose built to run 24/7. Additionally, this particular machine allows for added cameras and storage drives when or if required in the future. A HDMI extender pushes live images to Craig’s office via the existing data network. This gives Craig production and stock information at his fingertips, all without moving away from his computer.
